What is "RSS"?

RSS is a format for syndicating content over the Internet, and is commonly used to distribute headlines and links to news articles and blog posts. The actual article or post isn't usually shared, but information about the article is, including the headline, summary, and link.

What does "RSS" mean?

It depends on who you ask. Some say RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication", others say "RDF Site Summary", while some believe it's "Rich Site Summary". According to Dave Winer, author of the current spec, "There is no consensus on what RSS stands for, so it's not an acronym, it's a name."

GoDefy RSS Feeds

You can subscribe to a virtually unlimited number of GoDefy RSS feeds, like the homepage, product category, company page, author's page, product page, Help page, or even a search results page.

How do I subscribe to RSS feeds?

There are 2 ways to subscribe to RSS feeds:

  1. Some websites, such as My Yahoo!, My MSN, Bloglines, NewsGator, and Feedster let you add RSS feeds to a webpage. Simply click on the appropriate RSS feed button located under the filter box on the left side of a page to add the RSS feed to the news aggregator website.
  2. You can use news aggregator software (also called news readers) to collect, update and display RSS feeds. Popular, free and commercial news aggregators, like Feedreader, AmphetaDesk, NetNewsWire, and Radio Userland, are available for download.

Everytime the webpage is updated, you will see it in the webpage or RSS news reader software hosting the RSS feed. If you need to manually add the URL of a RSS feed, you can find the URL behind the small orange box . Simply hover your mouse over the image, right click, and copy and paste shortcut URL.
