Apple Smart Home Hub postponed due to Siri upgrades delay
Apple’s long-rumored smart home hub, which would blend HomePod and iPad functionality with AI-powered HomeKit integration, has reportedly been delayed beyond its initial 2025 target. The device, internally codenamed “J490,” was originally planned for a March 2024 announcement but has been postponed due to Apple’s ongoing struggles with AI development, particularly related to the next-generation Siri. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple initially intended to introduce a more advanced and personalized Siri experience with iOS 18.4. However, these features were pushed to iOS 18.5 and now seem likely to debut between iOS 19 in September 2025 and iOS 19.4 in March 2026.
