Last week, tens of thousands of AT&T customers woke up without service, their cellphones stuck on SOS Mode. The outage that spanned up to 12 hours was later attributed to a software update, but the disruption had already set off alarm bells nationwide, even prompting an investigation from the FBI and Homeland Security. AT&T’s response to this havoc was financial restitution. In a statement on their website, the company announced a measly $5 credit per account for impacted customers, which, according to AT&T, equates to “the average cost of a full day of service.” .stk-2a4f5ca{box-shadow:0 0 0 2px rgba(120,120,120,0.1) !important}.stk-2a4f5ca-container{background-color:#f3f3f3 !important}.stk-2a4f5ca-container:before{background-color:#f3f3f3 !important} .stk-eq26i73{margin-left:-20px !important}.stk-eq26i73 .stk–svg-wrapper .stk–inner-svg svg:last-child{opacity:0.7 !important}.stk-eq26i73 .stk–svg-wrapper .stk–inner-svg svg:last-child,.stk-eq26i73 .stk–svg-wrapper .stk–inner-svg svg:last-child :is(g,path,rect,polygon,ellipse){fill:var(–stk-global-color-56583,#911d9c) !important} .stk-tyranva{margin-left:-17px !important}.stk-tyranva .stk-block-text__text{font-size:16px !important;font-weight:300 !important;font-style:normal !important;font-family:”Golos Text”,Sans-serif !important}@media screen and (max-width:1023px){.stk-tyranva .stk-block-text__text{font-size:16px !important}}We apologize for Thursday’s network outage.
