Humane AI pin is officially dead as HP acquires the company

Click here for more.The Humane AI Pin, a $699 AI-powered wearable launched in April 2024, faced significant challenges from the outset.  The device failed to meet expectations, delivering a subpar experience that fell short of its ambitious promises.  The hardware itself was flawed, compounding these issues. In June 2024, Humane issued a safety warning to all 37 AI Pin owners, advising them to stop using the bundled charging case due to a potential fire hazard. HP ended up acquiring Humane for $116 million. Humane initially aimed for a buyout between $750 million and $1 billion but settled for much less than it had raised from investors. However, the deal explicitly excludes Humane’s AI wearable business. Instead, HP gains access to Humane’s intellectual property, engineering talent, and CosmOS, the software powering the AI Pin.  Source: Humane HP takes over Humane, but not for its AI pins Following the acquisition, Humane announced an immediate discontinuation of AI Pin sales. Moreover, all AI Pins sold to date will cease functioning after February 28, 2025.  While offline features may continue working, online services—including AI capabilities and calling—will be permanently disabled, rendering the device nearly useless.  Humane says they’re offering refunds to customers still within their 90-day return period, though only upon request.
