The social media platform, X, formerly known as Twitter, is set to introduce video calling as part of its ongoing transformation into an all-encompassing “everything app.” The announcement was made by X’s CEO, Linda Yaccarino, during a recent interview with CNBC. “Imagine being able to video chat without having to disclose your phone number to anyone on the platform,” Yaccarino shared with CNBC’s Sara Eisen. This move is just another twist in the saga that began when Elon Musk bought the platform for a cool $44 billion last October. Since then, it’s been a roller coaster ride, with Yaccarino at the helm, trying to steer the platform toward Musk’s vision of an “everything app.” Yaccarino, who was brought on board in June, has been tasked not only with steadying the platform but also with spearheading its transformation into an “everything app,” a vision Musk has long championed. The name change kicked off last month when Twitter officially rebranded to X. Yaccarino described the rebranding as “a liberation from Twitter,” allowing the company to break free from legacy thinking and reimagine the platform’s potential.
