Cheaper MacBook model in development, according to reports 

The MacBook Air is currently the most affordable MacBook produced by Apple. That could change in the future, as reports of a cheaper MacBook are surfacing. According to a report published by Digitimes, Apple is “developing a low-cost MacBook series to compete with Chromebook models in the education sector.” This new cheaper MacBook should be released in 2024, assuming no significant delays. It’s possible that the cheaper MacBook range never makes it to production. But if it does, this would mark a new revenue stream for the company. It already pushes iPads and Macs heavily in the education sector, but a lower cost variant would get into more classrooms. The cheaper MacBook will target the education market as a rival to the Chromebook. It’s unlikely Apple will change the metal casing to save costs, but perhaps RAM and storage amounts will be reduced. That would also be on par with many Chromebooks, which already have lower powered components. The key point here is that Apple’s processors are powerful, and would enable a wider variety of programs to be used. However, the device hasn’t popped up in the supply chain yet.
